Man Arrested After Offering Prescription Medications For Payment

On Behalf of | Oct 12, 2017 | Blog, Prescription Drug Violations

If someone is going to commit a drug-related offense, it’s usually a good idea to do so in a way that isn’t obvious. Unfortunately, some people make serious mistakes in judgment that land them in the path of the police.

Take for example this 30-year-old man who is accused of trying to exchange his prescription medications for a cup of coffee at a local Dunkin’ Donuts. The man allegedly attempted to pay for his cup of coffee with prescription-grade muscle relaxants. When the employee refused them, he walked out of the store with the coffee in tow.

The man was located nearby at a local McDonald’s. He agreed to allow the police to search him, and they located eight prescription pills. They were for methocarbamol, which is a drug used to reduce muscle stiffness and pain.

The police stated that the man was unable to show them a prescription, so the police arrested him. He was not charged for stealing a cup of coffee.

This is a case that shows how important it is to have your prescription on hand if you are traveling with prescription drugs. In most cases, it’s advisable to keep your medications in their prescription bottles. If you can’t, then it’s wise to keep a copy of your current prescriptions along with a phone number for your pharmacy and doctor’s office on hand.

The last thing anyone should have to worry about is a false accusation of having prescription drugs illegally because they can’t access their prescriptions. If you’re charged for prescription drug violations of any kind, it’s important to defend yourself.
