Man Accused Of DUI Does Cartwheel For Police

On Behalf of | Feb 23, 2018 | Drunk Driving

If there is one thing you shouldn’t do after being pulled over for drunk driving, it’s make fun of the situation. Officers don’t take it lightly when you don’t listen to their instructions or are so intoxicated that you don’t even realize what you’re doing.

Take for example this case involving a Florida man who decided to do cartwheels when the police asked him to take a sobriety test. According to the news, it was the second time in two days that he’d run into police in an intoxicated state. This time, he was in a McDonald’s parking lot while allegedly impaired,

The officers claimed they already knew who he was from the night before. He admitted to police that he had been drinking earlier in the night. A cooled bottle of chardonnay, unopened, was discovered in his vehicle. The officers then asked if he would take a field sobriety test. He stated that he wouldn’t pass if he took it and asked to eat more of his French fries.

The man, clearly too intoxicated to understand the severity of the situation, told the officers that he would take the field tests. He, as expected, failed them and then refused a Breathalyzer test. He insisted that he would be able to perform a back-flip. Moments later, a cartwheel resulted in him lying on the ground.

The news reported that this was the man’s third potential DUI in the last three years. It’s not clear what charges he’ll face yet, but they could be fairly severe.

If you’re accused of drinking and driving, keep this article in mind. Remember, too, that you have the right to refuse to take field sobriety tests that you believe could incriminate you.
